Hey everyone, I'm very frustrated. I can't figure out how to accomplish booklet printing in Word or Pages. Pages often does things simply that Word fights tooth and nail, but I can't figure this one out. Apparently, old versions of Word supported booklet printing, which would allow the document to be printed with 2 pages facing each other, then cut the pages down the middle (gutter) and bound.
Or stapled down the middle. However, I'm finding this an impossible task. I'm using Word 2011 for Mac. Snow Leopard.
The end result I want: A landscape-oriented, two-sided (I have duplex printing on my laser printer) document with 4 pages to a sheet (2 front, 2 back), than can be cut down the middle and bound on the resulting left side, just like a 'regular' book. I don't have the option for 'booklet printing' under page setup in Word, and I don't know how to set it up in pages, because I can't even find a way to make it landscape orientation! (Yes, the computer is plugged in.) Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I can't help you with Word. I use Pages and Create booklet. Install the create booklet service and you'l will find the option in the File Print window. Write the document with normal pages. Save the original first in Pages format.
Then press Cmd + P choose PDF button down to the right. In the pop up menu choose Create booklet. Wait a few seconds an Preview will open the new document with the pages imposed ready to be printed.
I can't help you with the duplex printing though. What I do when I print the document is to in the print dialog first print the odd pages and then after I put back the printed papers I print the even pages. If you want to booklet print a small document as a one off and do not want to buy some software or the software doesn't work on your computer then the following worked for me. I had a pdf, I suggest that you create a pdf of your document first using the pdf document option in the print dialog. In my case I had a 16 page A4 document that I wanted to make into A5 booklet using a single sided HP1300 printer from a Yosemite Mac Book Pro.
1) Make a small dummy booklet using post-its or similar and number the pages. Then separate the pages out so that you have a little model in front of you that shows you the following The page numbers that needs to be on each sheet. In my case I had. Sheet 1(16, 12, 15).
Sheet 2 (14, 34, 13). Sheet 3(6, 1112, 5). Sheet 4 (8, 910, 7) 2) Next use preview to open your document and to do the first sheet. Use the side bar select option to choose sheets 16 and 1 (use the command key for non-contiguous pages).
In the print dialog choose 'Selected Pages in Side bar'. In Layout choose 2 pages per sheet. Because you will need 16 on the left and 1 on the Right change the Layout direction so that the page 16 is on the left in the preview. Print this sheet.
3) On the reverse of the sheet you just printed. you need page 2 and 15 and proceed as for section 2 except you do not need to change Layout direction. Feed the sheet from 2 into the printer, the top of the page to the left and facing downward (in the Case of a HP1200-1300 type printer) 4) You now have Sheet 1 so proceed as above for the other 3 sheets.
